Job Goal: To facilitate student comprehension and application of concepts, skills and behaviors that contribute to the development of mature, able and responsible members of society. To ensure continuous improvement in state and national performance levels to prepare students for college and careers in a global society, and at every level, performance is on‑track and on‑time for success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Implement 21st Century Skills into the curriculum.
- Work a full duty day in the assigned location(s).
- Assess student abilities relative to desired educational goals and outcomes.
- Plan and employ a variety of appropriate instruction and learning strategies and activities compatible with the physical facility and the needs and capabilities of students.
- Manage classroom behavior and participate in managing student behavior in other areas of the site.
- Communicate continuously with students and parents, in writing or verbally, regarding instructional expectations and student progress.
- Assess student achievement and maintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with other program personnel in planning effective instructional goals, objectives, methods and curriculum.
- Participate in professional growth and development activities, staff meetings, in‑service, and other assigned development activities.
- Assist in documentation of student progress by maintaining and submitting appropriate records and reports.
- Ensure that the classroom environment is attractive, healthy, safe and conducive to learning.
- Participate in extracurricular activities as requested by the principal.
- Participate in IEP meetings for IDEA students.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials and equipment of the instructional specialty assigned.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of student growth and development applicable to the grade assigned.
- Demonstrate good knowledge of early childhood program of studies related to mission, goals and organization.
- Continuously study and learn current research and theory.
- Plan and implement lessons based on curriculum objectives and the needs and abilities of students.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents and peers, including serving as a family advocate and participating in home visits.
- Be skilled and effective in oral and written communication.
- Maintain excellent human relations skills.
- Possess the physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast‑paced, high‑intensity work environment.
- Move around the room to effectively monitor student work and behavior.
- Demonstrate patience, caring, and dedication to help each student succeed.
- Take attendance and keep attendance registers, according to Board policy.
- Know and follow Section 504 and IDEA amendments.
- Remain courteous and professional at all times.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Maintain communication with school personnel, parents, and guardians to enhance cooperative action and meet educational needs of students. Utilize existing technology effectively in the performance of duties.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists, and to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled form.
