summarykansas city kansas community college (kckcc) is currently searching for adjunct faculty to teach courses in the english program (engl). Locations may be at our main campus or any location, including local high schools, daytime, online, evening, or virtually.
this is a pool position. Application materials for this adjunct position are accepted on an ongoing basis due to increasing demand for courses in this subject area.
position description- conduct all class sessions according to schedule.
- provide instruction, activities, assignments, and assessments to adequately cover all student learning objectives for the specific course(s) taught.
- use teaching methods that emphasize application, cooperation, and collaboration and engage students actively in their studies, encouraging them to become independent learners with higher-order thinking skills.
- organize and explain content using methods which are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experience
- assign and provide feedback for in- and out-of-class work.
- monitor student progress.
- perform adequate assessment and analysis of assessment according to college requirements.
- reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of one's own pedagogy.
- other duties as assigned.
- excellent oral and written communication skills.
- ability to arrive on time and be ready to teach course(s) during scheduled times.
- ability to prepare curricular materials to convey learning objectives to students.
- ability to effectively utilize blackboard for posting assignments, assessing students, performances, and grading.
- ability to think critically and solve problems independently.
- ability to be organized and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- ability to work with students, staff, and faculty.
- working knowledge of microsoft office 365 applications.
- master’s or higher degree in english or a master’s or higher degree in a related field with 18 credit hours of graduate english coursework.
- four (4) years of teaching experience at the collegiate level.
- experience with a learning management system such as blackboard.
- experience in learner-centered pedagogy.
