The Spanish GED Instructor - Part-Time is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Spanish to adult learners seeking to earn a General Educational Development (GED) credential. Instruction includes math, reading, writing, science, social studies, technology, and workforce preparation, aligned with the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA), Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR), and Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) requirements.
Instruction is provided to adult learners, 16 years of age and older, at varying academic levels.
- Teach and/or tutor all aspects of GED instruction in Spanish, including writing, math, reading, social studies, science, technology, and workforce skills, to meet or exceed Kansas Board of Regents performance targets.
- Prepare students to achieve educational attainment, secure or improve employment, transition to postsecondary education, and meet individual academic and career goals.
- Utilize effective instructional strategies to engage and motivate adult learners, addressing diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs through differentiated instruction.
- Advise students during enrollment and at a minimum of every three weeks regarding test scores, goals, barriers, study resources, and academic progress; document all advising sessions.
- Administer required assessments in alignment with KBOR Proficiency Attainment Model (PAM) guidelines.
- Use formative and summative assessment data to adjust instruction and support student success on all GED subject tests.
- Communicate regularly with absent students via phone or email and document outreach efforts.
- Maintain and submit accurate records for state and federal reporting requirements in a timely manner.
- Utilize the Literacy, Adult, and Community Education System (LACES) to track attendance, progress, and outcomes.
- Participate in required professional development activities to enhance instructional quality and meet Adult Education program standards.
- Comply with all legal and ethical obligations including FERP A, ADA, and other regulatory legislations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director or Director.
- Fluency in Spanish and ability to deliver instruction effectively in Spanish.

- Bachelor's degree or higher in education, adult education, or related field.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
- Training, experience, and/or coursework in individual learning methodology in basic academic skill areas including reading, writing, and mathematics to improve learner academic skills.
- Strong organizational, communication, and data management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multicultural populations and partner organizations.
- Master's degree in education, adult education, or related field.
- Teaching experience, especially K-12.
- Coaching and instructing Adult Education/ Adult Learners.
- Experience teaching high school equivalency skills to adult learners, preferably GED@ preparation.
- Experience working with bilingual or Spanish-speaking populations.
