Compensation: To $175K+ (Base salary, and sign on bonus)
Location: Metro Kansas City KS area or Plano, TX
SummaryPosition reports to the Design Engineering Manager, and is responsible to develop safety critical electronic hardware, Power Electronics, Power Converters, Inverters, power supplies, embedded software, and magnetics for Aerospace, Defense and Industrial applications. Join a team of electrical, power electronics, mechanical, software, test, and project management engineers. These disciplines develop requirements, produce detailed designs, qualify, document, develop test equipment for, and help establish production processes.
Key Responsibilities- Work with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and technicians pushing state-of-the-art design for analog and digitally controlled power converters.
- Develop new power conversion products based on technology and turn theory into reality.
- Provide technical leadership in power product development.
- Design, troubleshoot, validate 115
VAC, 400 Hz to 28-800
VDC, 1kW-20kW, 1 and 3-phase active power converters and motor control products for aerospace applications. - Design & troubleshoot DC-DC power converters from 0.8V to 800V and 100W to 20kW range.
- Develop schematics and supervise PCB layouts.
- System integration in a team environment, to create specifications and develop test scenarios.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- Excellent practical knowledge, converter topology, digital control algorithm development a plus.
- Practical knowledge & experience on PFC and full bridge phase shift ZCS and ZVS converter development.
- DC/DC and or AC/DC converter design experience at multiple KW power levels.
- Working experience with PCB bring-up and lab testing.
- Strong understanding of analog circuit design and theory.
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to contribute with a hands-on, collaborative approach in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project or Smartsheet, and Epicor ERP.
- Must be available to work on-site, in either KS or Plano, TX.
Experience, Skills and Attributes
- BSEE or relevant technical degree, and 5 - 10+ years of related power electronics/power conversion design experience.
- Experience with DFX, aerospace, and MIL standard knowledge (e.g., DO160, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, etc.).
- Proficiency with OrCAD Designer or other PCB design software and experience designing and/or building prototype boards.
- Visionary mindset with a focus on the long-term success of the team and organization.
- Proven interpersonal and leadership skills.
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail; able to manage multiple priorities and drive tasks to completion. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, Ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders
