Our client is seeking a highly skilled Magnetics Engineer with expertise in magnetic components and transformers to join their team in Kansas City, KS. This is an onsite opportunity.

The ideal candidate will have experience designing/analyzing magnetic components such as high-frequency inductors and ATRUs with a background in the aerospace and defense industries.

The Opportunity:
  • Design, develop, and test magnetic components and transformers for aerospace and defense applications.
  • Analyze and optimize magnetic designs to meet performance, reliability, and cost requirements.
  • Communicate electrical and mechanical design concepts to Manufacturing Engineering, assist in work instruction development and review their work.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of magnetic components into larger systems.
  • Conduct failure analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in magnetics technology and industry standards.
  • What we are seeking:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and successful manufacture of three phase auto-transformer rectifier units, medium voltage transformers and high voltage transformers is required.
  • Knowledge of aerospace and defense industry standards and requirements required.
  • Experience with associated military and aerospace specifications such as MIL-PRF-27, MIL-STD-202, and RTCA DO-160 a plus.
  • Proven experience with power ratings of 100-500W.
  • Training or familiarity using simulation programs such as PSIM, ANSYS Maxwell or equivalent preferred.
  • Familiarity with mechanical design software such as Inventor or Solid Works a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Note:

    This position is subject to ITAR requirements and all candidates must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident (ie Green Card).
