E5C $81,098.00 - $ Annually
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation and execution of civil engineering projects by coordinating project activities, supporting design development, and preparing drawings and specifications under the supervision of the Engineering Supervisor.
- Review residential, commercial, and industrial development plans—including plot plans, subdivision layouts, mechanical site plans, and other construction documents—to develop water service recommendations. Collaborate with contractors, architects, developers, and customers to identify and recommend mutually beneficial main extensions or water service solutions.
- Support and coordinate Engineering Aides in their daily field and office activities, ensuring accurate data collection, documentation, and adherence to project requirements.
- Prepare construction project documentation and plans for utility work crews, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and completeness of technical information.
- Conduct construction observation and assist in monitoring complex projects to verify compliance with approved designs, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Perform routine design calculations and technical analyses and prepare reports and memoranda for water infrastructure and electrical substation projects. Tasks may include site preparation design, hydraulic modeling, stormwater and water main sizing, and basic structural calculations for foundations and related structures.
- Provide technical assistance to other divisions on maintenance, remodeling, and facility improvement projects by offering engineering insight, design support, and problem‑solving expertise.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college or university.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam administered by the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions.
- 2 years of professional civil engineering experience, preferably in water operations, infrastructure design, or construction project management.
- Eligibility for advancement to Project Engineer II upon completion of required training and demonstration of technical proficiency and project management capabilities.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, design standards, and construction practices.
- Ability to perform technical analyses, prepare engineering drawings, and support project planning and execution.
- Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, or equivalent tools.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning in civil engineering and project management.
