Job DescriptionOlsson provides engineering services for data centers, large commercial developments, hospitals, laboratories, schools and universities, and military facilities. Our Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) teams support complex facility designs, including HVAC, power distribution, lighting, and advanced modeling and analysis.
As a CFD Engineer, you will support Olsson’s Data Center team by developing and executing CFD models for mission‑critical facilities. This role expands Olsson’s CFD capabilities while collaborating closely with mechanical, electrical, and commissioning teams to deliver meaningful, data‑driven solutions for our clients.
Primary Responsibilities- Develop and execute CFD models for data center and similar built‑environment applications, including interior and exterior analyses.
- Perform model setup, troubleshooting, and validation with guidance from senior engineering staff.
- Interpret CFD results and communicate findings through written reports and presentation materials.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to support design decisions and improve system performance.
- Participate in client discussions and presentations, explaining results and recommending solutions.
- Apply understanding of ambient conditions, wind rose analysis, and psychrometrics to modeling efforts.
- Coordinate with other Olsson teams, professional staff, and clients to support project delivery.
- Periodically support CFD efforts in other markets served by Olsson, as needed.
- Travel occasionally to job sites for observation or client meetings.
- Demonstrated CFD modeling experience for data centers or similar complex facilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of related CFD experience.
- 3+ years of experience supporting engineering and facility design efforts.
- Knowledge of typical data center equipment, systems, and operations is preferred.
- Understanding of normal and emergency operating conditions within critical facilities.
- Flexibility and willingness to provide timely, practical solutions.
- Path toward Professional Engineer licensure is preferred.
- Prior Six Sigma or Cadence Reality experience is a plus.
