The 5G IoT Lab Test Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting lab tests for 5G and IoT solutions in an on-site environment located in Kansas City, KS. In this full-time role, the engineer will set up and maintain testbeds, configure devices, networks, and tools, and perform functional, performance, interoperability, and regression testing for 5G and IoT systems. The position involves analyzing logs and metrics, troubleshooting issues, collaborating with development and systems engineering teams to reproduce and resolve defects, and validating fixes.
The engineer will also contribute to test plans, test cases, automation scripts, and continuous improvement of lab practices, ensuring solutions meet quality, reliability, and compliance standards.
- Strong foundation in telecommunications or networking engineering, with knowledge of 5G architecture, protocols, and IoT systems.
- Experience with lab environments, including testbed setup, device configuration, network equipment, and measurement tools.
- Skills in test planning and execution, including functional, performance, and regression testing, plus documentation of test results and defects.
- Ability to analyze logs and metrics, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Familiarity with test automation concepts, scripting (e.g., Python, Shell), and CI/CD or Dev Ops-oriented workflows is beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work on-site in a structured lab environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to document complex technical findings for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
