We are seeking a highly experienced Project Manager to lead electric transmission line routing and siting projects across the United States. This pivotal role involves managing complex routing and siting studies, evaluating project constraints, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will support clients through planning, permitting, and regulatory approval processes, leveraging hands-on experience with electric transmission projects and a comprehensive understanding of environmental, land use, engineering, and community considerations.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the development of major electric infrastructure while advancing your professional growth.
Responsibilities:
- Manage electric transmission line routing and siting projects from initial planning through regulatory approval.
- Develop and evaluate route alternatives considering environmental, land use, engineering, constructability, and community factors.
- Identify project constraints and opportunities impacting scope, schedule, cost, permitting, or constructability.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including environmental scientists, engineers, land use specialists, GIS professionals, permitting specialists, and stakeholder engagement teams.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client expectations.
- Review and guide the preparation of routing studies, siting reports, technical memoranda, regulatory documentation, and permit applications.
- Support state and local regulatory filings and approval processes for electric transmission projects.
- Coordinate environmental field studies and agency consultations related to transmission projects.
- Participate in meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, landowners, community stakeholders, and project representatives.
- Support public meetings, stakeholder briefings, and community engagement activities.
- Identify potential permitting and regulatory risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Review technical information and synthesize multidisciplinary findings into clear recommendations for clients.
- Maintain strong communication with clients and internal teams throughout project execution.
- Support proposal development, scopes of work, and project estimates as needed.
- Mentor and guide less experienced team members to foster professional development.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Geography, Land Use Planning, Environmental Planning, or a related field. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 10 years of consulting or industry experience supporting electric transmission or similar energy infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience with electric transmission line routing and siting, including developing and evaluating route alternatives.
- Working knowledge of environmental and land use constraints such as wetlands, protected species, cultural resources, land use, and community impacts.
- Experience coordinating environmental permitting, regulatory processes, or agency consultations.
- Strong project management skills, including managing schedules, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to clients, agencies, and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively in a consulting environment.
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 15% depending on project needs.
- Additional preferred qualifications include experience with state-level siting authority processes, regulatory filings, stakeholder engagement, GIS or routing tools, and familiarity with transmission construction practices.
