Wellington, the County Seat for Sumner County, Kansas, is known as the “Wheat Capital of the World,” located in south central Kansas approximately 20 miles north of the Kansas/Oklahoma borders. Wellington is the largest city in Sumner County.
As a Wellington Police Officer, you must be a person of honor, integrity, possess strong communication skills, and be able to render sound decisions under pressure. Most of all, you must be committed to public service, which includes participating in community service events/activities, assisting our citizens, and investigating/solving crimes.
Salary Range: $20.77–$32.83 DOQ
Qualifications- High school or GED diploma
- 21 years of age at appointment
- No Felony, domestic violence or serious misdemeanor offenses
- Current certified law enforcement officer preferred, but not required
Selection process includes a written exam, oral board interview, psychological examination, Health/drug screen, physical agility test, and background investigation. Twenty‑minute response time for call backs.
