Schedule: 12-hour Nights | 1900–0700 | 3 shifts per week
Position Overview
- Seeking an experienced Emergency Room Psychiatric RN for a highly independent role within the Emergency Department.
- The RN will perform psychiatric assessments, determine patient disposition after medical clearance, and manage high-risk behavioral health patients.
- Strong ER and psychiatric nursing skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to high-risk psychiatric patients in the ED
- Administer medications and manage restraints as appropriate
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and determine disposition (inpatient, discharge, involuntary hold)
- Coordinate placement, safety planning, and transport
- Respond to Behavioral Response Team (BRT) calls hospital-wide
- De-escalate violent or escalating patients in collaboration with staff and security
Requirements
- KS RN License or Compact
- BLS Certification
- 1 year ER experience required
- 1 year Psychiatric RN experience required (hospital setting preferred)
- Experience assessing psych patients for disposition
- Experience managing violent or high-risk patients
Additional Details
- No floating required
- Weekends not required (may work 1–2 per month)
- No on-call
- Holidays required based on unit needs
- 8-hour non-billable orientation
