OverviewThe Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) is a nationally recognized urban school district that serves approximately 22,000 students. To support this goal, the district is implementing a district-wide initiative called Diploma+.
The goal of the TIS Technician is to install, maintain, and troubleshoot computers for district staff and students; provide support for software, hardware, and peripheral problems; and assist with other technology needs.
Essential Functions- Configure operating systems and software using standard district and administrative packages.
- Repair damaged devices and manage the outbound repair process when needed.
- Install, assemble, and configure computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners, and related hardware; install cables or direct the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office reconfiguration.
- Troubleshoot problems with devices, including hardware and software, email, network, and peripheral equipment; make repairs and corrections where required.
- Serve as a technical resource to assist staff and students in resolving equipment and data problems; communicate with the help desk to facilitate information exchange and advice; implement solutions or notify users as required.
- Assist in instructing staff and students in the use of standard district and administrative software when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Hardware Manager, Assistant Director, or the Director of TIS.
- Instruct staff and students in the use and care of new and existing equipment.
- Determine feasibility of repair of damaged or obsolete equipment and report it to supervisors.
- Apple Technician Certification, highly desirable, A+ Certification, or equivalent experience (Mac and PC experience highly desired)
- Deep familiarity with iOS, macOS, and Windows
- High school diploma
- Experience with Mosyle and/or JAMF
- At least one year of experience troubleshooting and repairing computers, preferably Apple devices
- Demonstrated good customer service skills while interfacing with faculty, students, staff, and administrators
- Reliable transportation

Required competencies include MAC computer operations (including peripheral equipment); safety practices and procedures; problem‑solving to identify issues and select action plans. The technician may also work with Apple TVs, Chrome casts, document cameras, TVs, and other AV equipment used in instruction or meetings.
