Job Description

Summary:

The Telehealth Operations Director provides strategic and operational leadership for a portfolio of telehealth outreach and research programs. This role oversees daily operations across multiple initiatives, ensuring programs are well‑coordinated, efficient, and aligned with organizational goals. The Director manages procedures, budgets, funding streams, and staff, while setting strategic direction and implementing operational policies and workflows. Programs under this leadership are typically grant‑funded and/or revenue‑generating and have significant operational impact both within the University and across community partnerships.

Internally, the Director leads a hybrid/remote team, fosters a culture of trust and accountability, strengthens communication, and drives continuous process improvement. Externally, the role partners with community stakeholders and funding entities to develop, implement, and evaluate workflows that support grant deliverables and long‑term program sustainability across telehealth initiatives such as Telehealth ROCKS and the Heartland Telehealth Resource Center.

Job Duties
  • Liaise with CEO/PI and leadership team to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals for the internal team.
  • Plan and monitor the day‑to‑day running of programs to ensure smooth implementation, continuous improvement of processes, and completion of required deliverables.
  • Supervise staff across program lines, with a focus on building engaged culture and internal communications.
  • Advise operational components associated with grant‑funded deliverables, including workflows and processes associated with clinical, training, and evaluation activities.
  • Evaluating the efficiency of procedures according to organizational objectives and apply improvements.
  • Advance customer support processes and organize them to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee the operational budgets in collaboration with the leadership team and grants administrator.
  • Revise and/or formulate policies and promote their implementation.
  • Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.
  • Serve as a back‑up for other Telehealth programs.

Required Qualifications
  • Six (6) years of experience in a related field such as behavioral health, health, education, and business. Education may substitute experience on a year for year basis.
  • Experience leading organizational operations with responsibility including but not limited to strategic planning, operational oversight, financial management, staff supervision, and process improvement.
  • Experience with grant writing and research interest with rural communities and/or early childhood health as demonstrated by application materials.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education:

    Master’s degree or more advanced degree in health sciences, behavioral health, education, communication, public health, or related field.
  • Experience with broader health technologies and healthcare processes/workflows.
  • Experience with clinical environments, including reimbursement. Experience with state and federal policy. Proven grant writing and QI/research success.
  • Experience with data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
  • Experience in continuous quality improvement.
