- Fetal Surveillance-PTMedical Pavilion## Position Summary / Career Interest:
We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our maternal-fetal care team. This role includes performing non-stress tests (NSTs) and assisting with biophysical profiles (specialized ultrasounds) to monitor fetal well-being.
The position offers a comprehensive 6-month training program with hands-on support and mentorship.
Hours:
2 10's per week, working 7-5:30, rotating days The Fetal Surveillance Registered Nurse (RN) is proficient in the application and interpretation of electronic fetal heart rate monitor tracings based on current ACOG & NICHD guidelines. The Fetal Surveillance RN assesses fetal heart rate response in an ambulatory setting, to assist with differentiating between normal and abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and promote appropriate, physiologically based clinical decisions.
The Fetal Surveillance RN works in collaboration with the Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician by identifying and relaying information pertaining to fetal monitoring changes as appropriate to improve perinatal outcomes and reduce fetal/infant mortality rate. This is done through performing a biophysical profile scan on fetal movements and amniotic fluid measurements.
** Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
*** Performs limited ultrasound procedures as prescribed by a physician including positions patients for the proper view of the affected area; selects the appropriate scan images to be recorded; obtains essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans and documentation for clinical correlation.
* Performs and accesses fetal movement and nonstress test.
* Instructs patients about the proper physiological requirements for the procedure; helps patient transfer to exam table and ensures adequate patient immobilization to perform the scan; knows how to change scanning parameters to improve a scan.
* Obtains screening sonographic images by scanning the appropriate body part of the patient with the transducer; provides documentation of ultrasound exam sufficient for physicians to interpret.
* Assists physicians with ultrasound guided procedures in inpatient and ambulatory settings.
* Maintains work area to include medical supplies for procedures.
* Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Education and Experience
*** Bachelor Degree Nursing
* 3 or more years of Labor and Delivery RN or inpatient antepartum experience
** Preferred

*** Experience in an academic setting
* Experience in Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM)
** Required Licensure and Certification
*** Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing licensed in state in which they will be working and proof of compact licensure submitted/applied for in the state in which the employee lives in.
As a condition of your employment and continued employment with the health system, you are required to secure a Nurse Compact License (NCL) within 60 days of your date of hire. This will enable you to perform your job duties not only in Kansas, but other compact states. You will be responsible for any expenses you incur in securing this license and must provide your manager with evidence of this license before the sixty-day period expires.
If you fail to secure the NCL as required, you will be immediately removed from the work schedule and placed on an unpaid administrative leave, until we can understand the reasons for your non-compliance. Further failure to comply with the licensing requirement will result in your end of employment with the health system.
* Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days
* Completion of POCUS Fundamentals within 60 days of hire (or proof of equivalent training through AIUM) within 60 Days, and POCUS OBGYN-2nd trimester certification within 6 months of hire
* Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) - National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing Specialties (NCC) Must pass designated Electronic Fetal Monitoring Interview exam to be considered a viable candidate Or proof of certified fetal monitoring (C-EFM)
