Job Title: RN - Step Down - Regular Full-Time (Days)
Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct and effective patient care on a Med/Surg Step-Down unit, caring for stable but higher-acuity patients requiring continuous monitoring and specialized medication management. The RN utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to ensure safe, evidence-based care. This role requires competency with telemetry monitoring and management of cardiac drips, including Cardizem and Heparin.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to step-down patients in accordance with clinical standards and facility policies.
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms, identifying and reporting abnormalities promptly.
  • Administer and titrate Cardizem and Heparin drips per protocol and physician orders.
  • Perform patient assessments and implement individualized care plans.
  • Document patient condition, treatments, medications, and responses accurately and timely.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Educate patients and families on care plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in unit workflow, supporting team members and assisting with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
Qualifications (Legally Required)
  • Current and valid Kansas RN license.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certification.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg, Telemetry, or Step-Down experience in an acute care setting.
  • Competency with Cardizem and Heparin drips and telemetry monitoring required.
Shift Details

Regular full-time position; Day shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, with every third weekend required.
