Position Title:
Behavioral Health & Psychiatric RN - Emergency Department
Summary:The Psychiatric Intake & Assessment Nurse delivers professional nursing care through assessment, documentation, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation to ensure patient comfort and safety. Responsibilities include conducting initial psychiatric assessments, triage, serving as QMP in the absence of physicians, providing intake screenings, making referrals, coordinating with healthcare teams for admissions, and assisting with involuntary paperwork and hearings. The role involves collaboration with inpatient units, physicians, and emergency services, as well as participating in emergency response teams and performing clinical competencies specific to psychiatric care.
Qualifications & Skills:- High School diploma; ADN or higher nursing degree; BSN preferred
- Minimum 6 months psychiatric nursing experience
- Licensed Registered Nurse (Kansas or compact license)
- BLS certification required; ACLS and other advanced certifications preferred
- Strong assessment, communication, and collaboration skills
