Mercy seeks a compassionate SANE RN to provide trauma-informed forensic nursing care to sexual assault survivors in our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will perform detailed forensic examinations, collect and preserve evidence, support legal processes, and advocate for patients’ physical and emotional needs. You will collaborate closely with law enforcement, social services, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive forensic examinations for sexual assault patients of all ages
- Collect, preserve, and document forensic evidence following legal protocols
- Deliver trauma-informed, patient-centered care and education
- Collaborate with law enforcement, advocacy agencies, and multidisciplinary teams
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in medical and legal records
- Participate in on-call coverage and rapid response for SANE cases
- Testify in court proceedings as needed
- Support quality improvement, policy development, and staff education
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and ethical standards
- Engage in ongoing professional development and SANE-specific training
- Sexual assault forensic examination
