- Greet patients and prepare them for examinations or procedures
- Record patient health histories and note abnormal conditions for physicians
- Obtain vital signs and perform required screenings
- Administer intramuscular, subcutaneous, and oral medications safely as ordered
- Observe, record, and report patient conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments
- Assist physicians or advanced practice providers during treatment, examination, and testing
- Maintain accurate and timely patient chart entries and forward charts as appropriate
- Schedule tests and treatments and arrange specialist referrals and pre-authorizations
- Collect, document, and deliver lab specimens; obtain and enter lab results into the EMR
- Notify patients of test results and follow-up appointments
- Review medications, treatments, and after-visit instructions with patients and families
- Screen telephone calls and refer patients to registered nurses or physicians
- Coordinate pre-visit planning by reviewing EMR records and ordering approved labs and tests
- Complete forms such as FMLA, DME, and Home Health orders and obtain physician signatures
- Perform assigned unit or department professional, clinical, and technical competencies
- Graduation from an accredited licensed practical nurse program
- High school graduate or GED
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) multistate license from the applicable State Board of Nursing in Kansas and/or Missouri, in good standing in the state of residence
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 14 days
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Previous medical office experience preferred
Demonstrates proficiency in patient care, including administering medications, obtaining vital signs, and maintaining accurate medical records. Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills essential for effective patient assessment and communication.
