* Job Purpose:
- Manage patient flow and room turnover to maintain OR schedule efficiency and minimize delays. - Delegate patient assignments based on acuity, staff competency, and workload considerations. - Mentor and support nursing staff, particularly those new to ambulatory orthopedic care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate nursing activities in Pre Op and PACU, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix for scheduled orthopedic case volumes. - Serve as the clinical resource and on-floor supervisor for RN, LPN, and patient care technician staff throughout the shift. - Ensure effective communication and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
- Implement and monitor adherence to clinical protocols and standards to ensure high-quality care delivery. - Facilitate continuous quality improvement initiatives within the Pre Op and PACU areas. - Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during shifts to maintain a harmonious work environment. - Support staff development through training and continuing education opportunities, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.##
Qualifications Required
Education:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Kansas, in good standing
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of perioperative nursing experience
- Experience in Pre Op and/or PACU nursing
Preferred Experience:
- At least 1 year in an ambulatory surgery or outpatient setting
- Dual competency in both Pre Op and PACU areas strongly preferred Required
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated critical thinking and sound clinical judgment; ability to recognize and respond rapidly to intraoperative changes or emergencies
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients, surgeons, anesthesia, vendor representatives, and staff Preferred
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems; experience with ASC-specific platforms (e.g., Amkai, Advantx, AdvancedMD, HST, EPIC) a plus
