Field Safety Manager – EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) – Engineering Services – Field-Based – Lenexa, KS (Kansas City)

Position:
Field Safety Manager responsible for leading daily field safety operations across Experitec job sites, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.

Opportunities to Make an Impact
  • Own field safety execution and outcomes across job sites with Stop Work Authority.
  • Build trust‑based relationships with crews through on‑site presence, toolbox talks, and walkdowns.
  • Partner with a Safety Coordinator for administrative management and tracking.
  • Shape foundational safety programs and standards as the EHS function grows.
  • Represent safety at customer and partner meetings, including with Emerson.
  • Analyze trend data to highlight risk challenges to leadership.
What the Field Safety Manager Does
  • Lead field walkdowns, observations, toolbox talks, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
  • Own incident response, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Enforce safety policies, PPE requirements, and Stop Work Authority.
  • Build and maintain core safety infrastructure such as the Risk Management System and equipment programs.
  • Serve as primary contact for customer safety requirements and represent Experitec in safety meetings.
  • Define training needs for crews, including HAZWOPER and Hazmat, and deliver field‑based training.
  • Review escalated fleet safety events and conduct coaching conversations with employees.
  • Set and review fleet safety escalation thresholds with EHS leadership.
  • Analyze trends across sites to prevent incidents.
What You Will Contribute
  • Regular visible presence at job sites reinforcing safe work practices.
  • Sound judgment under real field conditions, balancing safety, schedule, and customer relationships.
  • Hands‑on leadership of audits, inspections, and corrective action follow‑through.
  • A proactive, prevention‑focused approach to reduce incidents.
  • Strong working relationships with customers, field crews, and Safety Coordinator.
  • Ownership of the annual field safety budget and reporting to leadership.
  • A collaborative approach to fleet safety review and coaching.
  • Develop and sustain safety programs aligned with business needs.
Required Skills, Experience & Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree, or associate degree with ≥2 years relevant experience, or high school diploma with ≥4 years relevant experience, or equivalent combination.
  • ≥5 years leading safety programs.
  • ≥3 years conducting audits, inspections, and JHAs.
  • ≥3 years leading incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • ≥3 years monitoring safety performance metrics and mitigating risks.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operating procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and field safety practices.
  • Discretion in handling employee, medical, and compliance information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quick learning of new software.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with field crews, customers, and leadership.
  • Ability to work from one of Experitec’s office locations with regular travel to field sites.
  • Ability to lift ≤30 pounds.
  • Availability Monday‑Friday 8 AM‑5 PM with occasional after‑hours availability.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a driving record background check.
  • Use of personal vehicle for majority of travel and ability to rent a vehicle when required.
  • Independent domestic travel up to 25 % of the time.
Preferred Skills, Experience & Abilities
  • 5+ years leading safety programs with responsibility for continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Business Administration, Human Resources, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or similar credentials.
  • OSHA 30‑hour certification.
  • HAZWOPER and Hazmat certification or training experience.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or oil & gas field environments.
  • Experience supporting multi‑site and/or multi‑state field operations.
  • Familiarity with contractor safety compliance platforms such as ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce, or similar.
