Job SummaryIf you're interested in an Entry Level Laboratory Assistant job, then this is the best role for you! This position performs routine testing of samples in the Analytical Services laboratory, providing analytical data to support process control, quality control, process development, product development, and waste management. The Quality Control laboratory operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, across three shifts.
Job Description- Perform routine analytical testing in accordance with established protocols, procedures, and work instructions.
- Work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
- Request and perform additional work to support team productivity and laboratory operations.
- Prepare solutions, clean glassware, dispose of solid and liquid waste, and perform other laboratory support activities.
- Train others on proper laboratory waste management procedures.
- Conduct basic operational preventative maintenance according to established work instructions.
- Identify and communicate operational issues involving laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Operate the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Chromatography Data System (CDS), and other instrument-specific computer systems.
- Search databases for test methods, specifications, standards, and other information required to complete analyses.
- Accurately record, calculate, review, and report analytical results and LIMS data.
- Review analytical data and various LIMS reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate troubleshooting opportunities, testing issues, and discrepancies with team members and laboratory leadership.
- Alert laboratory leadership to concerns involving sample integrity, supply inventory, safety, or analytical irregularities.
- Complete data entry for laboratory metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Identify process improvement opportunities and communicate recommendations to the team.
- Assist with improving established procedures and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate testing results to customers as required and maintain a customer-focused approach.
- Monitor laboratory supplies and consumables and notify leads when inventory reaches critical levels.
- Maintain good safety, housekeeping, and laboratory practices.
- Participate in laboratory and site safety programs, as well as cross-site initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge of RCRA hazardous waste regulations, waste determinations, and waste codes.
- Immediately communicate the discovery of spills, leaks, or other hazardous waste concerns to appropriate personnel.
- 3+ years of laboratory experience.
- Basic understanding of HPLC and GC operation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to evaluate analytical results against established standards.
- Ability to diagnose common instrument issues with minimal assistance and provide technical support to others.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workloads to maximize laboratory efficiency and productivity.
- High school diploma or equivalent with minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience.
- Must be able to pass drug screenings and criminal background checks
- Shift: 7:00 PM-7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts.
- Work eight-hour shifts with rotating days every three to four months.
- Local candidates only.
- Estimated Salary: $16.30 to $24.30 per hour. Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors.
