Job DutiesThe duties of this position include the supervision and monitoring of children and families under the jursidiction of the District Court, Child in Need of Care Department. This position will also provide support to the Juvenile Offender Unit if needed.
Work involves management of a Child in Need of Care caseload or other specific caseload as directed by the Department’s CSOIII; compile and maintain documentation on all contacts, utilize required court case management systems in all cases. Provide the court with a professional assessment which should assist the court in making appropriate findings and orders. Court appearance, home studies, court reports, home visits, child investigations, family assessments, correspond with other agencies and the public.
Comply with requirements of state mandate as well as local policies and procedures; and perform any additional duties as required by the CSOIII, Chief CSO or the Court.
Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in corrections, criminology, counseling, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field.
All applicants are subject to a name-based criminal history background check. Must have a valid Drivers License and access to legal means of transportation. If employed by Court Services, the new employee must pass a fingerprint-based background check within the first 30 days of employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Working knowledge of the child welfare and/or juvenile justice fields.
- Experience in caseload management.
- Ability to multi task and have excellent time mangament skills.
- You must be able to complete YLS certification within 12 months of employment and maintain certification while employed.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, verbally and written.
- Proficent use of current computer program and technology.
- Professional, courteous and cooperative in demeanor.
