Overview

Job Type: Staff. The position is a backup for the primary driver of the university van on trips between Kansas City and Joplin and may drive other university vehicles as needed. When not driving, the employee will assist with vehicle maintenance and campus operations such as mail delivery, room setups, furniture moves, and backup duties for the KC Mailroom.

• Drive the university van to local and out-of-town meetings and events.
• Flex schedule to accommodate varying schedules.
• Occasional overnight travel.
• Pass a driver history check and be insurable by the insurance carrier.
• Ensure the campus presents a favorable impression.
• Prepare grounds for assigned activities.
• Maintain healthy plants and apply chemicals as needed.
• Keep grounds clear of debris.
• Ensure grounds are safe during inclement weather.
• Monitor equipment for optimal performance, reporting malfunctions or breakages.
• Maintain KCU vehicles: washing, delivering cars for minor preventive maintenance, taking vehicles for repairs, performing detail cleaning.
• Help with office and department moves.
• Assist with special events.
• Contribute to the team effort by performing related duties as needed or assigned.
• Represent department and the university favorably and in accordance with core values.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

• Valid Driver’s license (Class E preferred).
• Neat and professional appearance.
• Excellent driving record.
• High school diploma.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
