Tech Electronics is a St.‑Louis-based family-owned company specializing in fire and life safety, security, and communications systems across the Midwest. We serve both large-scale project installations and ongoing service clients, combining technical expertise with a commitment to quality and safety.
The Role – What You’ll Actually Do Foundation (70%):Warehouse Material Control
- Daily material handling: receiving, shipping, staging, cycle counting, and inventory management
- Maintain meticulous inventory accuracy using Acumatica ERP
- Conduct regular cycle counts and investigate discrepancies to identify root causes
- Provide excellent service to field technicians and project teams for will-call and counter transactions
- Support the transition to our expanded Kansas City warehouse, including setup and optimization of tall vertical racking systems
- Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely (training provided if needed)
Technical Development
- Light fabrication and assembly work—rack building, panel mounting, component preparation for installations
- Learn product specifications, compatibility, and applications to become a technical resource for the team
- Develop hands‑on knowledge of fire safety, security, and communications equipment
- Potential progression into field support, project coordination, or installation work based on your skills and career goals
- Process discipline and attention to detail—follow procedures consistently, even when no one is watching
- Technical curiosity—want to understand how things work and ask questions beyond your immediate task
- Computer proficiency—comfortable learning new software systems, basic Excel skills, able to navigate digital tools
- Ownership mindset—take pride in your work, solve problems independently, and don’t need constant supervision
- Strong communication skills—work effectively with the local KC team while maintaining accountability to corporate standards set in St.‑Louis
- Physical capability—lift up to 70 lbs, work at heights with proper safety equipment, and stay active throughout the day
- 2-4 years of warehouse, logistics, or inventory experience
- Experience with ERP/WMS systems (Acumatica—training provided)
- Background in electronics, AV systems, electrical components, or related technical fields
- Hands‑on experience with tools, assembly work, or fabrication
- Forklift certification (training provided if needed)
- College coursework in technology, business, or related fields (not required but valued)
- Location:
Kansas City warehouse (no travel required) - Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM - Reports to:
Material Control Manager (based in St.‑Louis) - Works with: KC warehouse team, field technicians, project managers
- Autonomy:
Significant day-to-day autonomy supported by corporate expertise and standards; collaboration with local KC team and experienced KC warehouse specialist who guides learning of systems and customer service approach
