This position is located in the Farm Production and Conservation (FPAC) Business Center (BC), Chief Financial Operations Office (CFOO) Financial Management Division (FMD).
The primary purpose of the position is to provide technical accounting expertise. The incumbent serves as staff advisor in carrying out vital accounting and financial program assignments. identifying and providing recommendations for resolving critical accounting and financial management problems. Basic Requirement: GS-0510:
Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means "accounting and/or auditing" in this standard. Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor").
OR
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in federal service or comparable experience not gained through federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:
- Assisting in reviewing, processing, and applying knowledge of policies and regulations to carry out well-defined accounting practices.
OR
Education at the GS-07 grade level:One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as:
Accounting, Auditing, Budget, Government Financial Management, Business Administration, or Finance
OR
Superior Academic Achievement (SAA):Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. SAA is based on:
- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR
OR
- Applicants may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).).
