Job Details Description
The Front Desk Receptionist is often the first voice patients hear when they contact our office. This role focuses primarily on answering incoming calls, scheduling appointments, and assisting patients by phone, while also providing basic front desk and administrative support in a busy medical practice.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys phone-based customer service, helping people, and keeping schedules organized.
Front Desk Receptionist Essential Functions/Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)- Answer a high volume of incoming calls in a friendly, professional manner
- Assist patients by phone with appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and general questions
- Transfer calls appropriately and take accurate messages for clinical and office staff
- Register new patients and update existing patient demographics and insurance information
- Support patient check-in and check-out as needed
- Communicate scheduling changes, delays, or updates to patients and staff
- Verify insurance eligibility, referrals, and authorizations prior to appointments
- Maintain patient records through data entry, scanning, and faxing
- Collect copays and patient balances when applicable
- Assist with basic administrative tasks and office projects as needed
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 2+ years of administrative support experience in a medical environment preferred
- Strong phone etiquette and clear verbal communication skills
- Comfort handling a high volume of calls in a fast-paced environment
- Basic understanding of insurance verification and scheduling processes preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines
- Team-oriented, dependable, and willing to learn
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer systems
