A well respected law firm in Kansas City, MO is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join their practice.
The Legal Administrative Assistant provides essential support to attorneys and legal staff by managing daily administrative operations, coordinating case activities, and ensuring the timely completion of legal tasks. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
Key Responsibilities Administrative & Calendar ManagementMaintain and update attorney calendars, including hearings, deadlines, meetings, and court appearances
Coordinate scheduling across internal teams, courts, and external parties
Track critical dates and ensure timely reminders for filings and case milestones
Draft, edit, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and case materials
Ensure accuracy, proper formatting, and compliance with court rules and office standards
Prepare and assemble exhibits, pleadings, and supporting documentation
Perform state and federal e-filing of pleadings, motions, and other legal documents
Verify filing requirements, deadlines, and jurisdiction-specific rules
Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems
Coordinate and arrange service of process for legal documents
Track service status, obtain affidavits, and ensure proper documentation
Prepare professional correspondence on behalf of attorneys
Communicate with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and vendors
Handle incoming calls, emails, and mail with professionalism and confidentiality
Assist with case management, including organizing case files and monitoring case progress
Gather, review, and summarize case-related information
Support attorneys in trial preparation, discovery, and administrative tasks
Experience in a legal, administrative, or office support role
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with legal software, e-filing systems, and Microsoft Office
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
