Job DescriptionThe Unit Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for the department's administrative operations. This role provides support to patients, visitors, providers, and staff; coordinates communication; maintains records and data; and assists with reports, registration, supplies, and other administrative functions to support efficient department operations.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the central point of contact for patients, visitors, staff, and providers
- Coordinate department communications and respond to requests in a timely, professional manner
- Create, organize, and maintain confidential reports, correspondence, and other documentation
- Collect and enter data and assist with developing reports and spreadsheets
- Provide inpatient bedside registration and maintain patient information
- Maintain administrative supplies and inventory
- Answer phones, respond to call lights, and assist with customer service needs
- Support department meetings, filing, and other administrative activities
- Maintain an organized and efficient workstation
- Perform other duties as assigned to support department operations
- Promote quality improvement, patient and staff safety, cultural diversity, and excellent customer service
- Maintain compliance with applicable policies, regulations, HIPAA, and organizational standards
- High school diploma or equivalent GED
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to speak and read the English language fluently
- Proficient in use of computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Prior experience as a unit clerk or in a medical support role
- Knowledge of medical terminology or coursework in medical terminology
