Greenway Ford of KC is hiring an Experienced Transmission Technician! The Trans Tech services and repairs vehicles as assigned by management following all established standards and procedures. He or she must have knowledge of the diagnosis, repair, and replacement of vehicle transmissions. We deliver the highest quality service while maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, some post‑secondary automotive training, at least one year of dealer‑level or large facility experience, and certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). An unrestricted driver’s license and a clean driving record, a strong technical performance record, and strong physical dexterity and stamina to get the job done are required.

Candidates must be able to work productively in a fast‑paced team environment and must have a positive attitude, professional appearance, great communication skills, and the ability to deliver world class customer service. Candidates can receive a sign‑on bonus (depending on qualifications/experience) and a higher bonus with Ford experience.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnoses, maintains, and repairs automotive transmissions and related systems
  • Performs work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standards
  • Repairs automobiles and light trucks as assigned
  • Test‑drives vehicles and tests components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
  • Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
  • Follows all shop policy, procedure, safety, and environmental rules
  • Communicates directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed, providing an estimate of time needed for additional repairs
  • Executes repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications
  • Helps maintain shop appearance and safety standards and ensures the shop runs in an efficient manner by performing duties such as inventory stocking and other general functions
  • Attends all staff meetings, trainings, and educational classes as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • ASE Certification or graduated from an associate degree program in auto maintenance and repair
  • Post‑secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience/training in the diagnosis, repair, and replacement of transmissions required
  • One year of dealer‑level or large facility experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance
  • Have working knowledge of shop equipment such as wheel and tire equipment, alignment system, diagnostic equipment, AC equipment and lift operation
  • Able to drive both automatic and standard‑transmission vehicles
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and provide friendly customer service
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
  • Highly professional and dependable

  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
  • Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
