Plumbing Estimator Commercial Construction Bids Kansas

This Kansas City, MO general contracting and construction management firm is hiring a Plumbing Estimator to lead cost estimation and bid proposal preparation for commercial plumbing and mechanical construction projects. The Plumbing Estimator will review drawings and specifications, coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers, and prepare accurate, competitive bids using industry-standard estimating software. This is a full-time, in-person position offering a $90,000-$125,000 salary based on experience.

• Prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for commercial plumbing and mechanical construction projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, and project documentation. Develop preliminary project schedules and identify risk factors.
• Review potential projects for feasibility and profitability, compiling risk matrices and mitigation strategies in collaboration with the project management team.
• Solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors, comparing pricing and material availability to select the best options.
• Engage clients throughout the bidding process to clarify requirements and present proposals to clients, designers, and operations teams.
• Maintain detailed estimating records and bid documentation, and support upkeep of the historical cost database and bid management software.

• Proficient in plumbing and mechanical estimating software such as FastPIPE, Trimble Estimation MEP, Accu Bid Pro, Auto Bid Mechanical, Quote Soft Pipe, Autodesk ESTmep, Bluebeam Revu, plus Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, materials, and current industry standards.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for client-facing interactions.
• Willingness to travel locally to job sites and client meetings.

• Previous field experience in plumbing and/or construction project management.

• Ability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk, and stand throughout the workday.
• Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 10 lbs; occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 lbs.
• Requires in-person work in a professional, business casual office environment.
