General Manager - Asphalt Paving - Commercial Sitework

Our client is seeking a General Manager to take on a key executive leadership role, driving operational excellence, financial performance, and strategic growth across the greater Kansas City area. This is a highly visible opportunity with significant autonomy and long-term upside.

This individual will serve as a strategic and operational leader, overseeing medium to large-scale infrastructure and site development projects while ensuring alignment with organizational goals, client expectations, and industry best practices.

This role requires strong, proven experience within the Kansas City market, including established relationships and local operational knowledge.

• Competitive base salary - $150K – $200K/yr

• 10+ years of experience in a managerial or executive leadership role within heavy civil, asphalt, site concrete, and private sitework construction
• Extensive background in asphalt paving, site concrete, finegrade, aggregate base, and associated excavation in the public works and private site development construction industries
• Proven success managing P&L, operations, employee retention, business development, safety and equipment management, and constructing infrastructure projects
• Established experience in the Kansas City market strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to leverage local relationships
• Strong working knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, HCSS Heavy Bid & Heavy Job, Civil 3D
• Deep understanding of scheduling, cost control, contracts, and financial reporting

• Provide executive leadership and strategic direction
• Drive financial performance including P&L, forecasting, budgeting
• Oversee project planning, scheduling, and execution
• Lead teams across estimating, project management, and field operations
• Utilize construction management software (Primavera P6, Procore, HCSS Heavy Bid & Heavy Job)
• Identify and execute growth opportunities in Kansas City
• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and vendors
• Review plans, schematics, and contracts
• Ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence
• Monitor field operations
• Lead scheduling and resource allocation
• Partner with ownership on strategy

• Deep understanding of asphalt and sitework construction, heavy civil operations and project lifecycle
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Multi-division experience preferred
• Hands-on field experience and safety knowledge
• Strong estimating, scheduling, and contract knowledge
• Knowledge of construction-related contract law
• Excellent time management and problem-solving
