Heavy Civil Superintendent – Heavy Civil & Concrete Paving

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Superintendent to join a growing construction team delivering large-scale heavy civil, concrete paving and infrastructure projects across the Mid-West.

This is a senior field leadership position suited to an experienced Superintendent with a strong background in concrete paving, civil sitework and large-scale infrastructure construction. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations, coordinating multiple trades and subcontractors, maintaining project schedules and ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

The role will suit someone who is comfortable working on complex, high-value projects and travelling extensively to project locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage day-to-day field operations across large-scale heavy civil and concrete construction projects.
• Supervise concrete paving operations including preparation, placement, finishing, curing and associated works.
• Coordinate sitework, grading, excavation, drainage, utilities, paving and other civil construction activities.
• Manage subcontractors, crews, equipment and multiple trades to ensure projects remain on schedule.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, clients and subcontractors to coordinate construction activities.
• Review project plans, specifications, schedules and construction requirements.
• Plan manpower, equipment, materials and resources required to maintain production.
• Monitor productivity, quality and progress against project schedules.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project specifications, safety requirements and applicable regulations.
• Coordinate inspections, testing and quality-control activities.
• Identify potential field issues and work proactively with the project team to develop solutions.
• Maintain strong communication with clients, inspectors, engineers and project stakeholders.
• Assist with pre-construction planning, project mobilisation and site logistics.
• Support project closeout, punch-list completion and final turnover.

Ideal Background

• 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience, with significant field-supervision experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with concrete paving and large-scale concrete placement.
• Previous experience as a Superintendent, General Superintendent or Senior Superintendent.
• Experience managing major civil, transportation, aviation, military or infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to coordinate multiple crews, subcontractors, trades and heavy equipment.
• Experience working on projects valued at $50M+.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling and field operations.
• Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans, specifications and project documentation.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.
