The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art invites all people to explore the art in its care, and through its vast collections, the depths and complexities of human experiences.
We are seeking a strategic, audience-centered storyteller to serve as our Senior Strategist, Content & Copy
. This senior-level content role will shape how the museum communicates across campaigns, digital platforms, and public-facing channels bringing clarity, cohesion, and creativity to our brand voice.

AboutThe Role
As Senior Strategist, Content & Copy
, you will develop compelling, multi-channel campaign messaging that advances institutional priorities and deepens audience engagement. You will collaborate across marketing and internal divisions to ensure our storytelling is cohesive, inclusive, and aligned with brand standards.
This role serves as a trusted editorial leader within the Strategic Marketing Solutions division and plays a key role in strengthening digital content performance and campaign impact.
What You’ll Do- Develop strategic, high-quality copy across email, web, social, paid media, and print campaigns
- Translate campaign goals and audience insights into clear, cohesive messaging
- Serve as a steward of the museum’s brand voice and messaging standards
- Provide editorial guidance and quality control on public-facing content
- Optimize website copy using SEO best practices
- Partner with colleagues to assess content performance and refine messaging strategies
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English, or related field
- 5–7 years of progressive professional copywriting and content strategy experience
- Demonstrated success developing messaging for integrated, multi-channel campaigns
- Strong portfolio showcasing strategic storytelling and audience awareness
- Experience with CMS platforms (Word Press, Drupal, or similar)
- Working knowledge of SEO principles and digital optimization
- Ability to translate complex institutional content into accessible, engaging messaging
