Guest Services Officer – Mucha (Part‑Time, Temporary)

At the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, we believe art has the power to transform, challenge, and inspire. As a Guest Services Officer for the upcoming Mucha exhibition (April 18, 2026 – August 30, 2026), you will play a key role in safeguarding the artwork and enhancing the visitor experience in a world‑class cultural setting.

As a Guest Services Officer, you’ll ensure the protection of the museum’s collection while providing excellent customer service to visitors.

Responsibilities include:

• Visitor Assistance:
  Engage with guests in a courteous and professional manner, answering questions and ensuring a positive experience.
• Art Protection:
  Monitor galleries and outdoor areas to prevent damage or theft of artworks and property.
• Situational Awareness:
  Handle stressful situations with confidence and diplomacy; report any security concerns to a supervisor.
• Emergency Response:
  Assist in the evacuation of visitors and staff in case of emergencies.
• Gallery Procedures:
  Conduct routine inspections, complete incident reports, and maintain a clean and safe environment in the exhibition space.

We’re seeking dedicated professionals who are attentive, reliable, and customer focused. Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong work history with demonstrated reliability and attendance.

• Ability to follow museum policies and explain guidelines professionally.
• Strong observational skills and ability to remain alert for extended periods.
• Physical ability to stand for long hours, climb stairs, and lift up to 20 lbs.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding museum security procedures.
• Neat and professional appearance in compliance with uniform standards.

  • Monday: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Thursday: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Friday: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• Option 2:
  • Thursday: 4:30 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Friday: 4:30 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Sunday: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Hourly Rate: $15.45 per hour

This is a part‑time, temporary position and does not include benefits.
