Description
Swope Health’s AEGD Dental Residency Program provides residents with clinical and educational experiences with an emphasis on comprehensive dental care in a community health environment. With the supervision of dental attending staff, residents provide dental care to our patients throughout the year and become adept at treating patients with complex medical needs.
Primary Functions- Satisfactorily completes requirements for competency for the AEGD Dental program and fulfils the training objectives for the program
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to meet the patient’s physical, psychosocial, educational and safety needs.
- Receive advanced knowledge and skills comprehensive Dental care and put them to use in assessing, diagnosing and planning treatment for both routine and complex cases.
- Provide and manage comprehensive patient focused care that is coordinated by the attending Dentist for a wide variety of patients.
- In partnership with Attending Faculty, considers treatment plans and methods and explain the options with the patient to determine which works best for them
- Documents patient history, examination findings, diagnosis, treatment planning utilizing electronic health record.
- Examines patient to determine nature of condition, utilizing x-rays, mouth mirrors, explores and other diagnostic procedures and instruments.
- Educates patients and families on oral healthcare.
- Attend Departmental Meetings, Departmental Training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Completion of a dental degree, DDS or DMD from an accredited school of dentistry.
- Required Standardized Test: INBDE, NBDE1, and NBDE
2. - You must have passed the INBDE before matriculation into the advanced dental education program.
- You must provide your Dental Transcripts
- Four(4) recommendation letters from candidates' dental school, including:
- One (1) institutional evaluation letter written by dean of the dental school.
- Three (3) professional evaluation letters written by dental faculty members or mentors.
- Personal Statement.
- Applicants must be graduates of a CODA accredited dental school and are US and/or Canadian citizens
- Ability to interact with patients, doctors, and staff in an effective manner
- Ability to work as a team promoting quality oral health care
- Understanding of health and safety regulations
- Interest in providing care to diverse patient population
