Job Overview
UMKC School of Dentistry seeks a full‑time, 100% FTE faculty member to serve as Department Chair of Restorative Clinical Sciences. This is a ranked faculty appointment (tenure‑track or ranked non‑tenure‑track) with salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Chair provides leadership for the department’s vision and growth, overseeing operations, faculty supervision, curriculum management, and fiscal stewardship. The position is eligible for tenure and/or ranked promotion.
Key Responsibilities- Lead strategic planning and long‑term growth for the Department of Restorative Clinical Sciences.
- Oversee departmental operations, faculty and staff supervision, curriculum management, and fiscal stewardship.
- Mentor and evaluate faculty, provide input on promotion, tenure, reappointment, and merit processes.
- Ensure high‑quality didactic and clinical education across the full scope of general dentistry and pre‑doctoral prosthodontics.
- Collaborate with Team Leaders, Clinical Affairs, Clinical Operations, and other clinic leadership to support effective clinical education, patient care, and faculty development.
- Manage departmental curriculum and academic workload assignments, align teaching responsibilities with clinical operations, and ensure compliance with CODA accreditation standards and institutional policies.
- Communicate regularly with the Dean, participate in school leadership and committee meetings, and serve as a key liaison between departmental faculty and School administration.
- DDS or DMD degree, or a foreign equivalent professional dental degree.
- Eligibility for licensure in the State of Missouri, including successful completion of required clinical licensure examinations.
- Prior leadership experience in dental education.
Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a 12‑month, benefit‑eligible, full‑time (1.0) faculty appointment eligible for tenure and/or ranked promotion.
