Early Education Instructional Coach (part-time)PART-TIME Kansas City, MO, US
The Instructional Coach supports teachers in providing high-quality, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children. The coach provides classroom coaching, mentoring, feedback, professional development, and resources to strengthen teaching practices and improve child outcomes.
The Instructional Coach works collaboratively with the center director, education leadership, behavioral interventionist, family advocates, therapists, and other staff to support effective classroom routines, curriculum implementation, child guidance, and learning environments aligned with Operation Breakthrough’s mission, Office of Head Start Performance Standards, state licensing requirements, and program policies.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Education, Family Studies, or a related field with required early childhood coursework.
- At least three years of experience working with children birth to five and their families.
- Knowledge of early childhood development, developmentally appropriate practice, and early childhood curriculum. Apply early childhood standards, regulations, curriculum requirements, and program policies.
- Knowledge of Head Start/Early Head Start requirements and state licensing standards.
- Strong communication, collaboration, leadership, and organizational skills. Demonstrate leadership and use reflective supervision and coaching practices.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with diverse families and professionals.
- Ability to use technology and learn program-specific software and data systems.
Coaching and Classroom Support
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and feedback to teaching staff.
- Support teachers in implementing high-quality, developmentally appropriate instruction.
- Help teachers plan meaningful learning experiences based on children's interests, development, and individual needs.
- Support effective classroom routines, transitions, child guidance, and positive teacher-child interactions.
- Assist teachers in arranging indoor and outdoor environments to support learning and engagement.
- Support teachers in implementing curriculum with fidelity.
- Use CLASS and other program data to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement.
- Adjust coaching support based on classroom needs, data, and teacher goals.
- Provide individual and group professional development based on identified staff and program needs.
- Facilitate Professional Learning Communities and reflective practice opportunities.
- Support peer observations, collaborative planning, study groups, and professional discussions.
- Use reflective coaching strategies to help teachers examine and strengthen their practice.
- Provide training related to quality teaching and learning, CLASS, trauma-informed practices, child development, curriculum, and other program priorities.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of staff training.
- Maintain accurate and timely coaching documentation.
- Use classroom observation, CLASS, curriculum fidelity, and other program data to guide coaching.
- Monitor coaching progress and evaluate the effectiveness of coaching strategies.
- Support teachers in completing professional development plans and required documentation.
- Use technology and program systems to track coaching activities and outcomes.
- Use computers, software, and data systems necessary to perform the job.
