Position: Senior Corporate Safety & Health Specialist (Electrical)

Description

A Brief Overview

Senior Corporate Safety & Health Specialist (Electrical) will serve as the company’s subject matter specialist on electrical safety, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and NFPA 70E. This role will perform work for the Burns and McDonnell Safety & Health Program in conjunction with the Site Safety Management and Corporate Safety & Health Department.

What you will do
  • Develop, implement, and manage the corporate electrical safety program, maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA and NFPA 70E.

  • Establish and maintain company-wide electrical safety policies, standards, and procedures.

  • Create and oversee a strategic roadmap for continuous improvement of the electrical safety program.

  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of electrical safety initiatives.

  • Design, develop, and oversee the implementation of comprehensive electrical safety training programs for all levels of the organization, from awareness to a qualified electrical worker (QEW) program.

  • Establish a framework for verifying and documenting employee competency and qualifications for electrical work.

  • Partner with regional and project teams to ensure consistent and effective delivery of training.

  • Provide technical guidance and interpretation of electrical safety standards to management, project teams, and employees.

  • Assist in the investigation of all electrical incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Develop and implement an audit program to assess compliance with corporate electrical safety policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Analyze audit findings, incident data, and industry trends to identify areas for program improvement.

  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior leadership on the status and performance of the electrical safety program.

  • Implement, apply and support company, global practice and/or regional office programs and initiatives; successfully navigating and managing change within the department.

  • Achieve stated targets and standards for safety performance.

  • Review workload and safety reports on a regular cadence to identify areas of improvement.

  • Develop solutions and implement strategies to support and improve safety & health performance.

  • Manage communication with governmental, industry, and public entities, and community relations on Safety & Health related matters.

  • Responsible for collaborating with business development managers, business line leads, project managers, and site staff on safe execution of work.

  • Thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management and 7 years of experience in a construction field environment required.

  • Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

  • 10 years related professional experience in a safety and/or project management role preferred.

  • Previous leadership and/or management experience preferred.

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations (specifically 29 CFR 1910 and 1926), NFPA 70E, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and relevant ANSI standards preferred.

  • Expert knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Construction and General Industry, America National Standards Institution (ANSI), National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH), Army Corps of Engineers (CoE), Engineers Manual 385-1 and National Electrical Code (NEC), Standards.

  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients preferred.

  • Proficient in Windows-based platform and basic computer skills.

  • Advanced use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred.

  • Strong project management skills and a strategic perspective preferred.

  • Previous experience actively working as Site Safety & Health representative on/at heavy industrial project locations preferred.

  • This position requires driving to various locations.

  • Valid driver's license required.

  • OSHA 10-hour Outreach Construction Course or OSHA 30-hour Outreach Construction Course required.

This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled.
