Position SummaryThe Senior Manager of Engineering leads the plant Engineering function and partners closely with Operations leadership to drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. The role ensures the reliability, maintenance, and optimization of all plant equipment, facilities, and systems, supporting efficient production and a safe working environment. In addition, this leader ensures adherence to food safety and quality requirements and supports all aspects of environmental and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and develop the Engineering and Maintenance teams to maintain equipment, facilities, and systems safely and efficiently.
- Provide both technical and business leadership to achieve performance goals in key operational areas.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging problem‑solving behaviors and long‑term mindset shifts.
- Maintenance & Reliability
- Implement and manage proactive maintenance programs, including preventive and predictive approaches, to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
- Ensure timely and effective resolution of equipment issues while reducing the likelihood of recurring failures.
- Build a service‑oriented maintenance team focused on quality, responsiveness, and operational support.
- Engineering & Project Management
- Lead the plant engineering function to support both short‑term production needs and long‑term site objectives.
- Identify and address process and system gaps using structured problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis.
- Develop and manage the facility's capital plan, ensuring financial accountability, ROI targets, and adherence to project budgets.
- Prioritize and manage engineering projects aligned with safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
- Provide coaching and oversight to project engineers.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with production, quality, and other functions to enhance equipment availability and overall operational performance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical, building, mechanical, and related codes.
- Maintain alignment with company standards and documentation requirements related to engineering and capital projects.
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field (advanced degree preferred).
- Experience
- 5-7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated success leading engineering, maintenance, production, or continuous improvement functions.
- Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of process improvement methodologies.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Broad technical knowledge across manufacturing systems, equipment reliability, process controls, and troubleshooting.
- Strong analytical thinking, business judgment, and proven problem‑solving ability.
