Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer will lead and support engineering projects while contributing to electronics design and development. The role involves creating test plans, supporting PCB design activities, and preparing essential technical documentation. This individual works closely with production and field teams to ensure reliable manufacturing and product performance.

ShiftGenerally, Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm CST. This role is performed exclusively on-campus in Mission, KS.
Scope of the Role- Perform hands‑on assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic and electromechanical components, including soldering, rework, wiring, and handling small precision parts
- Support integration and verification of robotic subsystems such as motors, actuators, sensors, conveyors, and optical detection components
- Develop electronics system specifications and contribute to system level design activities
- Perform printed circuit board (PCB) design, analysis, and debugging
- Conduct electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing in accordance with FCC and CE regulatory standards
- Lead or support projects through effective project management practices
- Develop and execute test plans, test procedures, and test fixtures; experience with LabVIEW is preferred
- Author and maintain test procedures to ensure product quality and compliance
- Create technical documentation, including procedures, test specifications, and presentations, using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Operate within a production environment to support manufacturing, testing, and continuous improvement of products and processes
- Provide technical support for manufacturing operations, field service teams, and customer‑reported hardware issues by diagnosing and resolving electrical and electromechanical failures
- Travel to vendor or customer locations to provide onsite support and assist with troubleshooting Pilot‑phase products as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years experience of electrical engineering
- Proficient with a complicated schematic and PCB design consisting of one or more PCBs
- Hands‑on experience with FPGA development; VHDL and Xilinx tool chains preferred
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools;
Cadstar preferred - Experience diagnosing and supporting electromechanical systems, including motors, actuators, sensors, and motion‑control hardware
- Demonstrated knowledge of EMI/EMC design principles and safety agency compliance requirements
- Proficiency in C programming for embedded processors (TI DSP, Atmel AVR, ARM)
- Experience selecting components and communicating with vendors
- Ability to access and service equipment in varied physical positions, including standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, or working in confined spaces
- Ability to lift, move, position, and set up test equipment, fixtures, prototypes, and subassemblies weighing up to 25–40 lbs
- Ability to travel to vendor or customer locations as needed
- Ability to work independently or in an interdisciplinary group as a leader or a resource
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

This position encompasses both office and workshop environments. Requires routine use of standard equipment and extended computer use.
