Job Summary

The Assistant Electrical Detailer assists in the production of engineering drawings and project deliverables for utility and infrastructure projects. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D skills who enjoys producing clean, accurate drawings and maintaining organized CAD files.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Produce accurate plans, profiles, details, and construction drawings from engineering markups, sketches, and verbal direction.
  • Assist in developing overhead (OH) and underground (UG) utility plans and profiles.
  • Prepare and revise drawing packages for permitting and project submittals.
  • Clean up, organize, and maintain CAD files while ensuring compliance with company and client drafting standards.
  • Maintain organized project files and drawing documentation.
  • Produce project deliverables efficiently while meeting project schedules and quality expectations.
  • Assist in QA/QC process and implement revisions to improve drawing accuracy and consistency.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers and project team members regarding drawing revisions, priorities, and workload.
  • Maintain proficiency with current CAD software and drafting standards while learning utility design practices and company workflows.

Required Skills

  • Strong AutoCAD skills
  • Strong Civil 3D skills
  • Solid drafting fundamentals
  • Ability to produce accurate plans, profiles, details, and construction drawings from engineering markups, sketches, and verbal direction
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and project team members
  • Willingness to learn utility design practices and company workflows

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in drafting technology or related field and minimum 2 years of related experience required; OR
  • Associate Degree and minimum 3 years of related experience required; OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and minimum 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience required

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience (with Bachelor's Degree), OR minimum 3 years of related experience (with Associate Degree), OR minimum 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience (with High School Diploma/GED)

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Previous utility design experience (not required; training will be provided on utility-specific design standards, overhead and underground profiles, and permitting requirements)
