Mechanical Engineer
The Mechanical Engineer design and coordination of plant and piping layouts for power generation projects. This role supports a project-based engineering environment and works closely with internal teams, and client stakeholders to deliver safe, compliant, and constructible solutions.
The position focuses on balance-of-plant piping design, plant layout, 3D model review, and field support during construction and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities- Lead plant and piping layout design for power generation facilities.
- Develop and maintain design specifications, drawings, and related documentation.
- Review proposals, customer documents, and technical requirements for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate technical interfaces across gas turbines, steam turbines, plant engineering, and external A/E teams.
- Ensure piping and layout scope aligns with project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
- Review A/E designs to confirm compliance with project requirements and standards.
- Provide field support during construction and commissioning, including troubleshooting layout and piping issues.
- Manage design control, including review of changes and evaluation of impact on system performance.
- Support development of project-specific deliverables such as GA drawings, modular pipe rack details, and piping documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical and piping scope within 3D plant models.
- Use tools such as Navis Works and similar 3D design platforms to validate constructability and maintainability.
- Support continuous improvement of plant layout and piping design standards and methods.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Experience in the power generation industry, specifically in balance-of-plant piping design.
- Experience with systems such as main steam, hot reheat, cold reheat, and related piping.
- Strong experience in plant layout, pipe support selection, and piping design for power generation facilities.
- Familiarity with pipe stress analysis, piping specialties, and thermal cycle engineering.
- Experience using Navis Works for 3D model review.
- Working knowledge of Plant3D or similar 3D plant design tools.
- PE license preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills in a multi-disciplinary project environment.
- Experience as a piping designer or mechanical designer on power or heavy industrial projects.
- Experience with boilers and associated piping systems.
- Ability to interpret and develop general arrangement drawings and modular pipe rack details.
- Experience reviewing A/E deliverables and managing design changes during execution.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively across teams.
This role includes a mix of office-based engineering work and field support at construction and commissioning sites. In the office, the Mechanical Engineer will review and coordinate plant and piping layouts using 3D design tools. In the field, the role may provide technical support at power generation sites, modular pipe rack installations, and active construction areas.

Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $170000.00/yr. Health Coverage:
