Fire Protection Designer Kansas City, MissouriAs part of the Buildings Group for Garver, this Fire Protection Designer will be responsible for developing fire protection designs in support of various Buildings Business Line projects.
ResponsibilitiesSpecifically, this role will include projects related to leading the planning, design, and commissioning of:
- Building fire protection systems
- Building fire suppression systems
- Building fire alarm systems
Additional responsibilities include coordination with other support disciplines, coordination with regional offices, assisting fire protection engineers in design of building projects, following quality assurance and quality control plans.
Attributes & Abilities- Knowledge of fire protection, suppression, and alarm principles
- Interfacing with project teams on project design, delivery, and construction
- Managing project budget and schedule compliance
- Fire protection design throughout the project lifecycle from concept, design, and construction phases
- Utilizing BIM design software to produce construction drawings
- Utilizing software‑based calculation tools for design calculations
- Managing multiple assignments concurrently
- Responsible for time management and product quality
- Following Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans
- Responsible for continuing education and learning based on project needs and overall team needs
- 5‑10 years of building fire protection design and construction experience
- Knowledge base of fire protection engineering principals related to building fire protection designs
- Proven experience with fire protection designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills
- Experience with Autodesk Revit
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite
- NICET certification in Fire Protection
- Experience with AIA Master Spec
- Knowledge of Federal Agencies design criteria
