Structural Designer – Aerospace & Industrial

We are seeking an experienced Structural Designer – Aerospace & Industrial to join our client's team in Kansas City, MO. This position will support a variety of complex industrial, manufacturing, and aerospace-related projects by performing structural design, drafting, modeling, and documentation activities as part of a collaborative project team.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience developing structural drawings, 2D drafting, and 3D modeling for steel and reinforced concrete structures. This role requires a strong understanding of structural design principles, engineering standards, and construction documentation practices.
Key Responsibilities- Perform various phases of structural design including planning, site evaluations, analytical design, report preparation, specifications, proposal documentation, and construction drawings.
- Develop detailed construction drawings for steel and reinforced concrete structures utilizing structural specifications, engineering calculations, sketches, design information, and project standards.
- Produce complete drawing packages including design layouts, calculations, detailing, and construction documentation for projects of varying complexity.
- Support structural design efforts for industrial, manufacturing, aerospace, and facility modification projects.
- Perform 2D drafting and 3D modeling tasks while maintaining proper engineering standards and procedures.
- Prepare structural layouts, details, and design documentation using established design methods and techniques.
- Interpret engineering sketches, redlines, markups, and project requirements to develop accurate design deliverables.
- Prepare structural calculations and apply applicable design codes, standards, and specifications.
- Design structural elements, connections, and details for a variety of project applications.
- Review and complete design drawings while maintaining project scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Coordinate structural design information with project teams, including engineers, project managers, and other designers.
- Incorporate project schedules, budgets, and criteria into structural design development.
- Maintain organized project files including drawings, revisions, plot files, and related documentation.
- Identify and resolve design or drawing issues through collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Perform additional duties as assigned while following company policies and project standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 7 years of related experience; or
- Associate degree with a minimum of 8 years of related experience; or
- Minimum of 9 years of progressive structural detailing and design experience.
- Advanced proficiency with design software such as:
- AutoCAD
- Civil 3D
- Micro Station
- Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of structural design principles, calculations, detailing practices, and engineering standards.
- Knowledge of structural materials including steel and reinforced concrete design applications.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and construction documents.
- Experience creating structural drawings and models for industrial, manufacturing, or complex facility projects preferred.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting aerospace, industrial, manufacturing, or large-scale facility projects.
- Experience with structural modeling and construction documentation.
- Familiarity with engineering codes, specifications, and industry standards.
