Immediate need for a talented Assistant Distribution Designer. This is a 12+ months contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Kansas City, MO (Onsite).
Pay Range: $27 - $32/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
Key Responsibilities:- Develop detailed design drawings, specifications, and material lists for overhead and underground electric distribution projects.
- Perform engineering calculations such as structural analysis of poles, conductor sizing, voltage drop, and transformer sizing.
- Ensure all designs adhere to client standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements including the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC).
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to meet project objectives and deadlines.
- Prepare and submit permit applications to various agencies.
- Process information collected during site visits to gather information and verify field conditions to be used for design activities.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing any design-related issues that may arise.
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously, from initial assignment to completion.

Skills:
Minimum 3 years of experience with power distribution design within electric utility scope. - Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and GIS applications, with a solid understanding of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and other applicable utility industry standards.
- Min completed Associate's or Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, drafting, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in electric utility distribution design.
- Must have distribution experience.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, GIS software, and other design tools.
- Strong knowledge of electric distribution infrastructure and construction techniques.
- Familiarity with NESC and other relevant industry standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently.
