Job Title
The role involves a variety of responsibilities including:
Serving as a coach, facilitator, and/or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus building activities among team members.
Acting as the mega-project Lead Engineer, providing technical guidance and direction over 20-40 engineers and scientists, augmented by AE services, to accomplish highly detailed and technically difficult work.
Ensuring that all products meet established USACE guidance and policy related to design, construction, and safety.
Engaging in the development and review of acquisition strategy; development of contract structure; development of contract type; review of project plans and specifications prior to contract advertisement.
Determining the practicability of acquisition strategy from a construction standpoint and whether physical obstructions, material availability, or other construction difficulties have been anticipated.
Observing and investigating construction at all stages to identify problems to take timely action to changes in design or recommend modifications of the design and/or contract.
Resolving problems such as unforeseen site conditions, design errors or omissions, customer requested changes or changed criteria.
Reviewing quality assurance inspection of construction operations for compliance with plans and specifications.
Monitoring and reporting on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to ensure priorities, methods, deadlines, and quality have been met.
