Tek Com Resources has an exciting opportunity for an entry-level OSP Drafter in the Kansas City area! The Drafter I will be supporting our client’s OSP Engineering team. This person will be creating and updating FTTH and outside plant design drawings using AutoCAD and GIS tools. This is an entry-level role and will focus on incorporating redlines, completing basic layout drafting, maintaining accurate project files, and preparing drawings for review and client delivery.
The Drafter I works under the guidance of Engineers, Leads, and Supervisors while learning client drafting standards, client requirements, and engineering workflows.

Kansas City, onsite
- Create and update fiber design drawings using redlines, sketches, engineering instructions, and field data.
- Maintain accurate drawing sets through HLD, LLD, construction, and as-built phases.
- Apply drafting standards for scale, layers, symbols, annotations, and sheet organization.
- Incorporate markups from Engineering, QA/QC, and project leadership.
- Track revisions and maintain accurate file names, folders, and version control.
- Communicate with Engineers and Leads when drawings or instructions require clarification.
- Convert engineering information into CAD or GIS formats, including PDF-to-DWG conversions and GIS imports.
- Prepare drawings and related files for QA/QC review and client submission.
- Support the engineering team with additional drafting and project documentation as needed.
- Basic experience with CAD or GIS drafting software, such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
- Experience with IQGeo software is strong plus
- Strong organization and documentation skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and meet project deadlines
- Willingness to learn FTTH, OSP, and utility engineering concepts
- Previous experience drafting in a telecom environment
- Familiarity with fiber routes, handholes, poles, strand, conduit, and duct systems
- Basic knowledge of OSP terminology, including fiber counts, splicing, drop routes, and anchors
