Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Field Engineer (PE) with 6+ years of experience in MEP consulting, electrical construction, or facility engineering to support commercial, healthcare, institutional, industrial, and mission-critical construction projects. This individual will provide field engineering expertise throughout all phases of project execution, including design review, construction administration, installation oversight, testing, commissioning, and project closeout.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with a strong background in building electrical systems, construction coordination, and field troubleshooting. This role requires collaboration with designers, owners, contractors, commissioning agents, and multidisciplinary project teams to ensure electrical systems are installed safely, operate reliably, and meet project requirements.

The Electrical Field Engineer position allows for a healthy work/life balance with a 40hour work week, no overtime and no travel required.

Essential Functions
  • Provide field engineering support during construction, startup, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify installation quality, construction progress, and compliance with contract documents.
  • Monitor installation of power distribution, lighting, life safety, and low-voltage systems.
  • Review contractor work for compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, and project requirements.
  • Identify field conflicts and coordinate resolutions with owners, architects, contractors, and design teams.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and as-built documentation.
  • Support project scheduling, sequencing, and coordination of electrical construction activities.
Electrical Systems Oversight
  • Support projects involving:
    Medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems, Electrical service entrance equipment, Switchgear and switchboards, Transformers, Panel boards, Emergency and standby power systems, Generators, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system, Lighting and lighting control systems, Building automation and control systems, Fire alarm systems, Security and access control system, Telecommunications and structured cabling systems, Data center and mission-critical infrastructure
Commissioning & Quality Assurance
  • Participate in startup, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Witness factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) when required.
  • Support functional performance testing and owner acceptance procedures.
  • Coordinate with commissioning agents and contractors during turnover activities.
  • Track deficiencies, punch list items, and corrective actions through project completion.
  • Verify equipment operation and system performance meet design intent.
  • Perform engineering evaluations and work with designers and estimators to develop solutions for field-related issues.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and value engineering efforts.
  • Support electrical load analysis and system assessments.
  • Review compliance with applicable electrical codes and industry standards.
  • Provide technical reports, field observation reports, and engineering recommendations.
  • Assist with budgeting, cost estimating, and scope development.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between clients, designers, contractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate project status updates.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive technical support.
Qualifications:

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
