WHAT YOU’LL DO & HOW IT SHAPES OUR SUCCESS

As a Design Engineer for Keepsakes, you will be responsible for collaborating with a cross-disciplinary team on format, capability, and experience development for the Christmas and everyday ornament category.

  • Being the primary resource responsible for providing the technical expertise needed to discover, inspire and develop new ornament products.
  • Designing solutions that overcome technical and cost challenges within the ornament category.
  • Providing engineering guidance and direction from initial concept through product creation and manufacturing.
  • Developing specifications and directing/producing the completion of technical documents, pre-costs, bid packs and prototypes based on criteria provided by the Keepsakes product development team.
  • Partnering with and being a key linkage to external vendors and technical and innovation resources.

It is an exciting time to be part of the Keepsakes team as our ornament business continues to grow, developing innovative products that combine compelling storytelling, world-class licensing partnerships, and meaningful consumer experiences.

Basic Qualifications

The following are required to be considered for this role:

  • Bachelor's Degree within an Engineering field (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related field)
  • At least 1 year of engineering experience through internships, co-ops, apprenticeships, academic projects, or professional employment
  • Experience with CAD and 3D modeling tools, such as Solid Works
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Plastics or Materials Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in consumer products, toys, or related product development
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD and Solid Works
  • Experience with product prototyping and design validation
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical design, manufacturing processes, injection molding, and material properties
  • Experience with product costing, supplier engagement, and Asia-based manufacturing and supply chains
  • Strong collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, providing the best of both worlds: the opportunity to collaborate in person at our Kansas City, MO headquarters Tuesday through Thursday, while enjoying the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
