Substation Engineer
Insight Global is seeking a Substation Engineer for a top power and energy consulting client. The Substation Engineer will work in close coordination with project managers and engineering managers to execute the engineering and design components of substation projects. Specific duties include:
Design substation physical layouts, equipment arrangements, grounding systems, and protection and control packages for transmission and distribution projects. Projects up to 500kV for power transformers, circuit breakers, relay panels, SCADA integration, etc. Type of projects include greenfield/brownfield substations utility grid modernization, P&C upgrades, transmission interconnection points, renewable energy interconnections, transmission line rebuilds, etc. Prepare engineering deliverables including one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, relay panel layouts, equipment specifications, and construction drawing packages.
Coordinate with utility clients, project teams, and field personnel to support substation upgrades, expansions, and greenfield installations from design through commissioning. Perform engineering calculations for grounding, cable sizing, equipment selection, and station service systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
